Biography:
Carol Block is a
former resident of Chicago and New York City,
currently living in Michigan City, IN. She earned
her Bachelor’s Degree at the School of the Art
Institute of Chicago and her Master’s at the
Institute of Design. Carol combines her interest in
photography, painting, printmaking, and surrealism
by altering her photographs digitally and often
overprinting several times. She prefers to work from
35mm negatives, which she scans at high resolution.
Carol taught at the Hyde Park Art Center, Englewood
H.S., Metro H.S. (the School without Walls), Loop
College Adult Ed., Urban Youth and Chicago State
University. Carol was an exhibiting member of
Artemisia Gallery in Chicago, Phoenix Gallery and
Soho 20 Gallery in New York. In Michigan City, she
exhibits with the Area Artists Association and
Southern Shore Associations and has a studio in the
Prince Gallery building.
