Biography: As a fledgling photographer in Boston circa 1960, I was influenced by Edward Weston's nudes and Ansel Adams' pure tones that could be contrasted and combined with the rich, vibrant colors of a psychedelic era. Now, in this mature phase of my career, I find these influences returning and combining richly with my individual experiences of life, art, and mortality. To create unique and personal photographs for clients, I have begun to blend traditional images with digital manipulation using various computer programs. I prefer to work in black and white in the studio and with color on location. Portraiture of individuals and couples has been the greatest of my creative challenges. Although much of my earlier work was commissioned for private viewing, since a heart attack I have given more generous attention to creating photographs that reflect my own visions, including the play of light that characterizes the essence of life and also signifies the fragility of it.
