Biography:
Ronald’s first oil paintings were exhibited at the age of 12 open-air in Kalamazoo.
He graduated from the American Academy of Art Chicago in 1962. During his military service in Germany he painted commissioned works for his fellow soldiers. After graduating from the State University for Fine Art Kassel, Germany, (M.A. in fine art and art education) he spent the next twenty-five years focusing mainly on graphic design and supporting his wife and two daughters. After his wife’s death in 1996 Ronald returned to painting again, devoting his entire attention to art. Numerous exhibitions followed as well as many commissioned works such as the creation of fifteen works for the offices of a legal counselor. Ronald returned to the United States in 2007 and lives in Niles, Michigan. Besides solo exhibitions he also takes part in competitions and art fairs.
Ronald considers himself a landscape painter in the broadest sense. Scenes depicting aspects of rural America prevail in his work. His role models are Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper. His attention is especially focused on the delicate nuances of nature that are manifested with the change of light and shadow. Ronald’s paintings relate the diverse moods of nature and tell a story in which painting and beholder are mutually implicated.
