Biography:
Carole
Stodder grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She came
to the Chicago area to attend Lake Forest College
choosing art as her major. After college, she
studied with New York artist/teacher Will Barnet in
Advanced Painting at the University of Minnesota.
While teaching at the University of Chicago
Laboratory School, Stodder completed work at Midway
Studios for a Master of Fine Arts degree. She was a
founding member of the Chicago Artists’ Coalition in
1974 and served as chairperson of the board and as
editor of the Chicago Artist’s News. In more recent
years, she worked as Assistant Administrator for the
Illinois Artisans’ Program. During this time, she
continued to paint and exhibit, with a studio in
Chicago during the 80’s. In 1996 she moved to
Indiana, where she has been active with the Lubeznik
Center for the Arts, as President of the Area
Artists Association. Currently, she maintains a
studio in the Town of Pines.
