Rockin’
Summertime Blast is a perfect way to bring in the summer
season! The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is hosting the
June First Fridays @ Five event on Friday, June 6 from
5:00 to 8:00 p.m. (Chicago time) at 101 W. 2nd Street in
Michigan City. LCA Member admission is $6 and non-member
admission is $8.
The Lubeznik Center presents a live performance by the
rock band “Qwest” on the lake side parking area of the
Lubeznik Center. While enjoying the music under the lovely
June sky, have a bite to eat and view the current exhibit,
“Photography Now”, on display in the Hyndman Gallery
through July 6. The event will be held indoors in case of
inclement weather.
Qwest is made up of five honor students from La Lumiere
School including vocalist Zachary Gillis, Jeff McComas on
lead guitar, Asher Igra on drums, Ari Augustaitis on
keyboard, and Vytenis Karaitis on bass guitar. Last summer
Qwest opened at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks for
legendary jazz vocalist Frank D’Rone. “I knew D’Rone would
be great,” said La Lumiere Headmaster Michael Kennedy,
“but I was shocked at how the audience loved [Qwest]. They
almost stole the show.” “The kids can play,” says Acorn
manager/owner David Fink. “They know how to entertain the
audience.” |

First Fridays @ Five take place
from 5 - 8 p.m. on the first Friday of the month -
a perfect way to unwind after a hard week. Everyone is welcome. Admission to the event is $6
for LCA members and $8 for the general public and
includes entertainment and light appetizers.
