OVER 120 ARTISTS TO EXHIBIT AT THE 27TH ANNUAL LAKEFRONT ART FESTIVAL

 

The Lubeznik Center for the Arts’ 27th Annual Lakefront Art Festival will be held August 16 and August 17 in Washington Park in Michigan City. The Festival is a juried art show, committed to accepting only the finest original and highest quality handmade art. 121 artists, including 42 newly accepted artists from throughout the country will display works that include collage, basketry, ceramics, drawing (pencil, pastels, etc.), fiber (weaving and wearable art), glass, jewelry, leather, metalwork, paintings, photography, printmaking, quilts, sculpture, watercolor, wood (furniture, carving and wood burning) and other more specific processes.

Eleven artists will conduct demonstrations of their artistic processes throughout both days of the festival. These include Sierra Cole (Fiber), Kelly Crosser-Alge (glass), Bonnie Eastwood (basketry), Wayne Harshberger (stone sculpture), Paul Jeselskis (ceramics), Carol Kuntzman (ceramics), A.W. Mathis (painting), David Millar (metal sculpture), Layl McDill (ceramics/mixed media), Avon Waters (painting) and Robert Williams (drawing).

Expanded food offerings

An on-site food court, available to festival goers and the general public, will feature a variety of culinary choices that range from healthy to indulgent. Ethnic and American offerings include brats, burgers, hot-dogs, corn-dogs, Italian and Polish sausage, walleye sandwiches, grilled chicken pitas, egg-rolls, pulled pork and popcorn. And for those with a sweet-tooth, Fannie May frozen treats, roasted nuts and home-made ice cream.

Kids' Art Activities

ImageThe Art Activity Tent, coordinated by the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, will be on site to provide art activities for visitors of ALL ages. Children and adults are welcome to try their hand at painting or forming clay at the potter’s wheel. Other children’s entertainment will be provided by Michiana Clowns, who will be at the Festival both Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 pm.

 

 

Visitor Information:

The Festival will run Saturday, August 16th from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday, August 17th from 10 am to 5 pm, and will be located just east of the park entrance in Washington Park in Michigan City, IN. Festival entry fees are $4 adults and children under 12 admitted free. Members of the Lubeznik Center presenting member tickets also receive free admission. The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is located at 101 W. 2nd St. in Michigan City, just blocks from the festival, and is open on weekends from 11am - 4pm and Tuesdays through Fridays from 10am – 5pm.

Art bucks are now available for purchase at the Lubeznik Center and www.lubeznikcenter.org in denominations of $25, $50, and $100. They can be used for art purchases at the Festival, and are also valid for Lubeznik Center membership purchases, classes, and items in the Lubeznik Center for the Arts’ galleries and Gallery Shop. Art bucks will also be available at the Lakefront Art Festival.

Free parking will be serviced by a free shuttle from two locations: Michigan City City Hall parking lot, and the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce parking lot. Parking is on a first come, first-served basis. Weekend parking rates apply at Washington Park.
