The 5th
annual A NIGHT IN VENICE, which serves as the premier
fundraising event for the Lubeznik Center for the Arts,
was held at the beautiful Pottawatomie Country Club in
Michigan City, IN on May 10, 2008. A lovely spring
evening provided the backdrop for cocktails and the silent
auction, with over 100 donated items including a
Rare
Single Malt Whiskey Collection, Entertainment & Get-Aways,
Fine Foods, Salon Pampering Packages, Interior Design
Consultations, Fine Art, Fitness Memberships & Classes,
Pet Care Packages, Designer Jewelry, Boutique Clothing &
Accessories, and much more.
After
a delicious Venetian inspired meal the real excitement
began with the Live Auction. There was lively bidding for
travel packages to Milan Fashion Week, Art Basel Miami
Beach, Costa Rica Mountains, Beaver Creek Colorado,
California Wine Country, Washington DC, a huge Sweet Home
Chicago Jazz package, as well as Sports Training in
Florida, as well as NASCAR VIP/Autobahn driving experience
and the popular Instant Wine Cellar which included 56
bottles of specialty wines and champaigns. Additional
funds were raised through a "Call to Action", where guests
offered their financial contributions to fund future
exhibits and community outreach programs.
Through ticket sales, proceeds from the Live & Silent
Auctions and the Call to Action, the Lubeznik Center
raised over $135,000 (gross total).
Proceeds generated from the Night in Venice will benefit
LCA community outreach, exhibits and educational programs.
The Board of Directors and Staff are incredibly grateful
for the outpouring of support. The success of the event is
an indicator that the Lubeznik Center is making a
significant difference in the community.
A
heart-felt THANK YOU you goes out to the numerous people
who have helped make this event a success. It is through
the support of these generous and kind friends of the
Lubeznik Center, as well as those who contributed
financial and in-kind support that we are able to
provide the high-quality outreach programs and exhibits
for this region.
