Learn and expand upon a range of concepts, strategies and processes that are part of creating abstract artwork. Techniques used in mixed media and acrylic painting will be presented as well as historical information, examples of contemporary abstract artwork and color theory. Learn both classic and contemporary watercolor techniques in a relaxed and supportive environment. Students build onto their work by adding ink and colored pencil to enhance results. All skill levels welcome. Materials list is provided upon registration.
Explore and discover various media that can combine to successfully create fresh outcomes. Using watercolor, collage, ink and more, students can learn various techniques using a variety of materials for greater creative possibilities. Materials list provided upon registration.
Join fellow art enthusiasts for lively discussions and riveting art presentations centered around historical works, portraits, landscapes, and still- life subjects. Gain insight into relevant topics while observing the artworks inspired by traditions and religions from around the world.
In this two- session workshop, students will discover new techniques used by professionals to produce meaningful, artistic photographs. Whether a beginner or more experienced, this class offers students new perspectives on photography while exploring LCA’s lakeside view through a camera lens. Any digital camera can be used for this course; digital camera rentals are also available through the LCA Education Department upon request.
Young artists will be introduced to a variety of art mediums to create mixed media artworks. This course covers basic collage, printing and painting techniques in a relaxed and creative atmosphere. Beginning and experienced writers of fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry, use the Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) method. This group will focus on in-class writing, optional sharing and positive feedback in a supportive environment. Students in this class will learn the fundamental techniques and practices used by performing actors such as voice inflection, stage vocabulary, and tools used to engage an audience. Students will work both in groups and independently to perform several scripted works and choreographed routines.

Our tours bring a diverse group of nearly 2,000 students annually to LCA for educational tours and onsite art making. Bring your students to Lubeznik Center for the Arts for an inspirational tour of our exhibits featuring internationally known and emerging artists creating unique and exciting work.
When students can't get to our galleries, we have developed a free virtual program to bring the art to your students! Educators can utilize a series of video field trips tailored to use in person or virtually.
